RETAIL, WHOLESALE AND DEPARTMENT STORE UNION ENDORSES LAURA GILLEN FOR RE-ELECTION

Gillen is the Right Leader for Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Stuart Appelbaum, President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU, UFCW), announced the union’s endorsement of Laura Gillen for re-election as Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead.

“Since taking office, Laura Gillen has diligently ensured that the town’s hard-working people are put first in decision making. Supervisor Gillen has taken great strides to reverse decades long financial harm to workers; and the RWDSU stands with her to continue her work as Supervisor in her re-election campaign,” said Stuart Appelbaum, President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU, UFCW).

Alvin Ramnarian President of Local 1102 RWDSU, UFCW said: “Since her historic election, Supervisor Laura Gillen has led the charge to cut the fraud and abuse that has impacted hardworking taxpayers on the Island. Many of our Local 1102 RWDSU members live and work in the Town of Hempstead and I’m proud to say that when it comes to good government Laura Gillen is the right leader for the job. Let’s re-elect Laura Gillen.”

John R. Durso, President of Local 338 RWDSU, UFCW said: “Laura Gillen has been a breath of fresh air in the Town of Hempstead. In her short time as Supervisor, she has taken on a number of initiatives to ensure reform and transparency at Town Hall. She has been a great partner in fighting to improve the quality of life for working families and we are proud to endorse her for re-election. We know she will continue to be an advocate for not just Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW members, but for all working people in the Town of Hempstead.”
