New York Sodus Rehabilitation Workers Win New Agreement
RWDSU Local 220 members in Sodus, New York, have a new four-year contract at the Sodus Rehabilitation Center. The facility is a nursing home and rehabilitation center.
Headlining the new agreement are wage increases of 10 to 15 percent over the life of the contract for all support positions. Coupled with the previous wage increase from last year’s mid-contract agreement, CNA and LPN members are seeing a 40 percent increase in wages.
The contract makes per diem employees RWDSU members if they work part-time hours for 12 weeks, and increases the union’s participation in new hire orientations. Uniform allowance will be increased, the 401K contribution match by the company will be improved, and now part-time employees will receive time-and-a-half pay for holiday work. Part-timers will also now receive paid sick leave, and the sick leave policy is also improved for full-time employees.
