RWDSU Local 1102 members working in food service at New York University have won a new contract that brings strong wage increases and improved medical insurance coverage. In addition, the company retirement contributions will rise, improving retirement security for members. Local 1102 members at NYU prepare and provide food for NYU students on campus.
Today, the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU), announced that 1,800 workers at the Equity / Tyson poultry processing plant in Camilla, Georgia, voted overwhelmingly, by 97% of those members voting to ratify their latest contract. The negotiation team at the Southeast Council of the RWDSU worked tirelessly to secure the strongest contract that workers in the poultry industry have seen in years.
RWDSU Local 108 workers the Mushroom Company in Cambridge, Maryland, have won a new three-year contract with their employer which brings wages up 50 cents per hour each year of the agreement. The committee was also successful in upgrading the general labor rate for each job category. This meant that on top of the first increase since employees would receive 10-25 cents more per hour.
A strong new contract for poultry workers at Koch Foods in Macon, Georgia, has been ratified unanimously by the RWDSU members who work there.
