RWDSU Conducts OSHA Training for Retail Workers

The RWDSU and the Retail Action Project conducted an OSHA training session at the RWDSU offices in Manhattan. At the session, 30 retail workers took part in in the OSHA 10 hour for General Industry course.

This training introduces workers to the ins-and-outs of hazard identification, evaluation and abatement. Additionally, workers learned the purpose of OSHA, its standards to promote workplace safety and their role in protecting workers’ rights.

“The RWDSU Health and Safety Department believes that workers learn best when the teachings are practiced, and that’s why we prioritize participatory learning methods such as this course,” said RWDSU Health and Safety Director Diego Palaguachi.

“It was a great group of students, and we will continue to work toward making retail workplaces safer.”
