Members of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) gathered on zoom to share stories of past holiday seasons and issues they face heading into one of the busiest times of the year in the industry. Workers came together just ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday to highlight the unique pressures they face and call on the public to be kind and understanding.
Stuart Appelbaum, President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) issued the following statement on the decision in the consolidated complaint against Amazon regarding the election at Amazon in Bessemer, Alabama, originally filed on November 20, 2020…
“No matter who the president may be, our job is the same – to represent the members of our union and to protect their rights and advance their interests. The way to improve working conditions is by organizing, and we will continue to do that.”
RWDSU Local 110 members who work at the General Mills and Quaker Oats plants in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, came out in October to support striking workers at the neighboring Cargill corn milling plant. Workers at the plant – members of Teamsters Local 238 – have been on strike since October 1.
